Down-Select

A down-select is a phased evaluation process used in business, government procurement, and engineering to narrow a large group of competing options, vendors, or proposals down to a smaller, qualified shortlist for the next stage of development or final award.

Robot Archetype

A high-level description of what the robot is optimized to do this season, chosen after game analysis and before CAD. Examples: "fast cycle scorer", "defensive bot", "endgame specialist" — locks the design direction so every subsystem decision has a north star.

Robot Envelope

The three-dimensional volume a robot's end-effector (or tool mounting plate) can reach through its full range of motion. Shape depends on the robot's physical structure, joint types, and axis limits.
